Trampolining

Karen is a qualified trampoline club coach and is one of a number of coaches that teaches at Thornbury Trampoline Club (Thornbury Leisure Centre) on Thursday evenings and Chairperson of the North Bristol Trampoline Club (Bristol City College, Lawrence Weston) that runs on Tuesday evenings. Please visit the club websites for more information.

Thornbury Trampoline Club times:
  • Tuesdays 6-8pm (term time)
  • Thursdays 6-9pm (7-9pm during school holidays) 

North Bristol Trampoline Club times:

  • Lawrence Weston: Tuesdays 6pm - 7:30pm (8-12 yr olds) 7:30 - 9pm (12+).
  • Greenway: Thursdays 6pm - 7:30pm (8-12 yr olds) 7:30 - 9pm (12+).
  • Greenway: Saturdays 12am - 2pm.

Karen is also requalified as a form judge for trampolining with the new judging rules (Club Judge - Cycle 11) in December 2006.

Karen passed the Trampoline Club Coach course in March 2006, but has yet to complete the rig part of the course, due to a recovering shoulder injury. She has now started retraining on the rig at Thornbury.


Motorbikes

Chris and Karen are life members of Motorcycle Action Group (MAG).  

Chris rides a Yamaha Fazer 1000 and Karen rides a Yamaha Fazer 600.


Other Sports

Karen enjoys running, walking, swimming, ice-skating, cycling, climbing, aerobics and is still attempting to learn to ride a unicycle. (Karen cannot get balanced for very long.) Karen is still recovering from sports related injuries, so has had to cut back on some of her activities. Chris also enjoys running, walking and cycling.

Karen's interest in sports and sports injuries has led her to train in Sports Massage.

In March and September 2004, Karen completed the Bath and Bristol Half-marathons, raising £655 for the National Asthma Campaign. In May 2005, Karen raised £200 for Cancer Research UK, by running the "Race for Life" on the Bristol Downs. Every year since 2005, Chris runs the AXA 5 for his company and walks the 20 mile Mendip Challenge to raise money for the Weston Hospice Care charity. Karen and Chris marshalled the "Race for Life" on the Bristol Downs in 2007 and 2008.
